A storage-type electric water heater has been removed from the list of scheduled models specified in the Energy Efficiency (Product Labeling) Ordinance and will not be supplied in Hong Kong with immediate effect. The Electrical and Mechanical Department stated today (11th) that the test results of the KPU-10 model electric water heater of the brand “Dexin” did not meet the relevant energy efficiency and/or functional performance, and the Department decided to remove it from the record book.
The importer of the electric water heater involved is Changli Co., Ltd., and the reference number is E210012. The EMSD has issued notices to relevant importers, who will publish notices in newspapers to inform the public that the relevant products will cease to be supplied in Hong Kong.
The EMSD is responsible for implementing the mandatory energy efficiency labeling scheme in accordance with the Ordinance, and regularly selects listed models of products to conduct energy performance monitoring tests to check whether the products meet the energy efficiency and functional performance submitted to the EMSD.
